Ever since I was very young I loved dogs. At that time I hadn't really 'chosen' a breed, I just loved all dogs in general. As I got older, I began realizing that we needed a dog that fit our lifestyle and needs - and that not all dogs fit everyone. Sometimes different breeds match with different sorts of people. Immediatley I was drawn to the sporting group - I loved the muscular look of the working dog, and I was awed by the amount of beauty such dogs could possess. Soon I had it narrowed down to the retrievers, with their soft grips used for retrieving birds safely they would (more than likely) be best for younger children. Soon I decided I loved the golden, and from there on there was nothing else but gold!

When we got Macintosh I was so overjoyed, he was absolutely perfect for our family, playful, full of joy and such a gentle dog. He was smart, and had only one accident during his housetraining and never chewed anything (except for mittens) up! Thinking back now I'd have to say that he must've been sent to prove that goldens were for me, since I have never had that good of luck with any dog since him! I guess you could say that Macintosh ignited the spark that began my passion for Goldens...
Three years later I adopted my "own" golden, Finnegan. Finnegan was my pride and joy, registered name "Terals Sara's Little Shadow" he fit the role quite nicely - following me everyhwere and doing anything I asked of him. No one could deny that he was "my" dog! Untill that fatefull day in March, 2004 when he was killed in a tragic accident. I'll allways remember Finnegan and the joy he brought me. The spark Mac had started, had been fanned by this wonderful boy... |

After Finnegan's death I wanted only to have another baby to love and to hold, someone to take my pain away and help me heal. So I began my search for my 'show puppy'. I ended up at Shaynedoro Goldens where I adopted Gallagher. My first show dog. Of course he is a pet first and foremost, but when he turns 6 months old he will make his showing debut - with me at the other end of the lead! Handling all the way.
Many people have told me that I will get tired and frustrated, and eventually I will hire a professional handler to take Gallagher to his championship. I'm not saying they're wrong, I'm just saying that I sure hope that's not the case! I really hope to owner-handle Gallagher all the way to his championship title!
My ultimate dream is to breed goldens, and have a kennel of my own. As of this summer ('04) I am planning the arrival of my female. Still unknown where she will come from, and her pedigree etc. But I don't plan to have her till late '05 at the earliest. I want to plan this one perfectly since she will be my foundation bitch.
I really and truly hope that Gallagher will kick-start my career as a handler and, hopefully, future breeder.
