Finn was one of the cutest pups I've ever owned!
Finnegan came to us in mid September, a bundle of energy and love, he would follow me everywhere I went. Turned out that the registered name, "Terals Sara's Little Shadow", I'd picked for him a month earlier fit him perfectly. He was indeed my shadow. Soon after coming home, Finnegan latched onto Macintosh and I as though we were his parents, he would eat, sleep and play with both of us in turn, always coming to me when I called, and always chasing Mac when he ran. The two dogs loved each other dearly, and were rarely apart. At night, Finnegan would sleep in the kennel in my bedroom - snoring away as if he didn't have a care in the world. I loved my dog more than anything at that point, he was my baby, my pride and joy, my beautiful little boy!
Soon, however, he wasn't so little anymore! He grew, and grew until he was almost as big as Macintosh. The two were quite the pair by this time, almost everyone stopped us on the street to comment on our beautiful dogs. I was so proud of my Finnegan! Now around this time, I realized that I could play a little 'game' with Finn, "follow the leader" soon became a daily occurence. I would walk around the house doing my chores, and schoolwork, Finnegan would never leave me. I could walk over beds - he would too. I could go down a set of stairs then back up - Finn would too. He would go anywhere and everywhere with me : never to leave my side!

This photo was taken the morning before Finnegan died, so full of life & joy- just how I want to remember him!
Unfortunately it seems, all good things must come to an end. Sadly, Finnegan included. On March 16th, 2004, Finn's 20 month birthday, he died. Our backyard gate left open by careless neighbors allowed the two dogs to escape from our yard. Construction was being done on the arena across the highway, and the dogs quickly bolted toward the people - hoping for the attention that all goldens love. Unfortunately, Finnegan was struck by a car on his way over the highway. Thankfully though, Macintosh never went onto the highway - being 'nicked' by a car a year before, he had learned, and was wiser than that. I will never forget my puppy; he was my baby, my boy, my shadow, my Finnegan, and I miss him to this day. I still often cry over the loss of my soul-doggy (as I have called him often) and I will always remember the love, loyalty and trust he bestowed upon me.
I miss you my boy.
